Croatian Aeronautical Federation

Croatian Aeronautical Federation is the roof association for air sport activities in Croatia. It is recognised and accepted in full membership from FAI (Federation Aeronautique Internationale) as an active NAC (National Airsport Control) and it is a member of COC (Croatian Olympic Committee) and CCTC (Croatian Community of Technological Culture).
CAF is legal successor of Aeronautic League of Croatia which was founded 1947. as an air sport association. After the liberation war in 1991 CAF was established and recognised as the only competent association for air sport activities in Croatia. During its history there were several world and European champions in different air sports.

CAF awards:
  • Faust Vrancic - The decision about assigning the Croatian Aeronautical Federation award "Faust Vrancic Medal" was accepted at the 94. FAI General Meeting, which was held on 17. till 21. October 2001. in Montreaux, Switzerland. The medal is in the rank with the FAI Silver Medal and it is given for the best world tehnical inovations in parachuting.
  • Ikar - The "Ikar" award is the highest award of the Croatian Aeronautical Federation. It is given for the remarkable achievement in aeronautics, and especially in sports aeronautics. It can be given to an individual or a group only once and for a specific period or for a life work.
  • Orao - The "Orao" award is the highest award of the Croatian Aeronautical Federation which is given to an individual or a group who achieved the best sports result in that year in a particular air sport. The bronze statue is the work of the academic sculptor Stipe Sikirica.
