Amateur building in Croatia starts with the capital piece written by Fausta Vrancic
(Sibenik, 1551. - Venecija, 1617.) "Machine Novae" and with the construction and making of the first
parachute. Engineer Slavoljub Penkala with the help of the first croatian pilot Dragutin Novak builds
the first croatian aeroplane in the year 1909. and with that act starts a nonbreaking era of aeronautics
and amateur-building aircraft in Croatia. With a great effort and renunciation, generations or amateur
builders and professional builders like engineer Rudolf Fizir, spread enthusiasm of aeronautics in Croatia
till this very day.
Croatian Aeronautical Federation as a roof association of air sports in Croatia by constituting the
Amateur-Built Aircraft commission started the unification of all amateur builders and their coordination
on a state level so they could continue this creative activity even more successfully by sharing knowlege and experience.
